Rufus arrives at the Pike's house! My name is Jeffrey and I have had diabetes for a year now. I am 8 years old. Rufus is a good bear because he is good to people who have diabetes.
Rufus arrived today and was on the table when Jeff got home from skiing with his school. Ever since we heard that Rufus would be coming, Jeffrey has been checking and asking about the mail! He was very excited. Rufus has gone everywhere with him tonight; dinner table, coloring, playing in his tent and to bed. They checked their blood together (the first time Rufus had a better number and before bed, Jeffrey had the better number). Tomorrow, Rufus will be going to school.

Rufus came to school with me and I got to bring Rufus in class. He learned a lot of things.
Rufus had another great day at school with Jeffrey and his friends.
Rufus came to the Capital Region Healthcare Diabetes Program at Concord Hospital with Jeffrey Pike. We were excited to see him and Jeffrey, too, of course! Della Flanagan, diabetes educator

Rufus has been going everywhere with Jeff. The kids at school are enjoying his daily visits, too. Today, Rufus went to basketball and to Jeff's grandmother's house in Rye, NH. Rufus rode a horse named Rambo at her barn, Brown Lane Farm. It was a long day and they slept all the way back to Concord.

Rufus came to visit my Grandma's house and Rufus was riding a horse with me. We had seafood for Grandma's birthday. Today, Seth, my best friend, is coming over. He has diabetes, too. I can't wait for Rufus to meet him. My mom has ordered my own Rufus.

My friend, Elsa, put the red, white and blue heart pin on him today. It looks like Rufus is collecting pins from all of his friends.

Tonight is the last night with the traveling Rufus. I had a lot of fun with him. I even got my own Rufus to keep. My favorite part of having Rufus was playing with him. I'm glad that he could go to school everyday. My new Rufus can't. I will miss the traveling Rufus.
My son, Jeffrey, enjoyed taking Rufus everywhere he went and shared him with his friends at school. We enjoyed being part of a group of very special families with diabetes and look forward to reading about more of his adventures.
