The Lowney Family, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho

Ruby arrived tonight! When we came home from work and school, there she was waiting on the doorstep, wanting to come in out of the cold.
Hello! My name is Darby. I am 5 1/2 years old.
Ruby is in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. It is a very beautiful place with a big lake and lots of trees. It is a great place to live.

Today, Ruby and I went Christmas shopping; she really liked it. Darby got to buy some little Barbie ponies with her allowance she saved up. Ruby helped pick them out. She thought that they were pretty.

Today was very exciting! Ruby and Darby went to Daddy's Christmas party at his office. Santa was there and they had their picture taken. Then later that day, they went on a Christmas cruise to the North Pole with Darby's friend, Claire. Darby, Claire, and Ruby all had a sleepover that night at Darby's house with Claire's teddy bear, Lilac. They went to bed early because it was a school night. Ruby and Lilac went to sleep first because Darby and Claire stayed up to chat.

Today, Ruby came with me to school. My class really liked her. I talked to them about diabetes and told them that Ruby was just like me. We were both running a little high, but came down to normal by dinner time.
After school, Ruby and I and my Mom and Dad went to the doctor and found out that I was going to have a baby brother! We were so excited, we went out to dinner to celebrate. Ruby had very good table manners!

Ruby and I got very sick today. We have Scarlet Fever. We had to go get an antibiotic and stayed home for a few days until we felt better.

We're off to Gramma and Grampa's in Seattle today for Christmas. I was bummed because Ruby had to ride in my suitcase so she didn't get lost. We stayed in a hotel and Ruby hogged the whole bed!

Merry Christmas! Santa came and brought lots of presents. Ruby helped me open packages and it was lots of fun. Darby gave Ruby a Christmas pin for a present.

Our last day with Ruby! Today we went to Triple Play to play games and try bowling for the first time. Ruby and I have been running high because we had birthday cake for Daddy's birthday. But, I think we burned some of it off playing. On our way home, we threw snowballs at Mom. Ruby and I thought that it was very funny! I will miss Ruby very much!
I love Ruby.
Darby Lowney (dx'd 1/7/00), Shawn and Ed (mom and dad), little brother ? coming soon!
