My name is Kaitlin and I am 13 years old and this is my story.
When I was ten years old I started sleeping all the time. I would wake up in the morning go to school, come home and sleep go to cheerleading practice then sleep again. This was a routine that I started doing everyday.
In the middle of the night i would wake up to drink water and use the bathroom. My grandparents were concerned so the took me to my physician to get blood work done. It turned out that my blood glucose level was over 300.
At the beginning I was scared not knowing what was going to happen. It took me a while to learn how to give my own shots, but I eventually got the hang of it.
Having diabetes has not stoped me from living my life. Since my diagnosis I have been involved in Cheerleading, Wrestling, Bowling, and Sea Cadets. I am looking for a pen pal, my email is
kait.butler AT gmail.com.
