Hello! My name is Ethan and I live in North Carolina. I am 2 years old and very rambunctious! My Mommy and Daddy knew something was wrong with me when I was being very quiet and still for several days. I started drinking everything I could get my hands on and going to the bathroom all the time. I also started wetting the bed and I didn't like that. Mommy took me to see my pediatrician in December 2005 because she knew something was wrong. My doctor tested my blood and it was over 500. They sent me right to the local Children's Hospital and I stayed there for 3 days. The nurses were very nice to me and I got to make allot of crafts in the playroom. I was able to be home for Christmas. I am getting much better with my testing and shots. I try to help Mommy and Daddy get all of my medicine and test strips.
I am surrounded by family that loves me very much! I live with my Mommy and Daddy. I have an older sister, Emma. She is 4 years old. I have twin brothers, Alex and Aaron and they are 15 months old. My Grandma and Aunt Kelly live right around the corner and I see them everyday. My Aunt Frankye and Cousin Pete live a few hours away, but I see them quiet a bit. I go to daycare at a church in our town. I really love going and playing with my friends. I will be moving into the 3 year old room soon and I'm happy about that because I love the teacher! Mommy and Daddy take turns coming to daycare at lunchtime to give me my insulin shot.
Having Diabetes hasn't stopped me from playing and having fun! I love playing ball with my Daddy and riding my bike. I still get in plenty of trouble. Sometimes I get tired and need a snack, but within a few minutes, I'm back to my old self. I hope that there will someday be a cure for Diabetes and other little boys and girls won't have to go through this.
Mommy (Kristie) would enjoy hearing from other parents affected by Type 1 Diabetes. Her email is:
