Hi, This is Jabari. He was diagnosed October 7, 2004. He was only 12 months and 5 days old. He was having wet diapers more often and became very tired and thirsty. He vomited on the way to the doctors office where he was diagnosed. He stayed in the hospital for 4 days.
His name means courageous and fearless. This is the right name for him because he is a very brave little boy. He handles his injections and finger pricks very well. We hope to start him on a pump soon because his blood sugars are up and down. We try our best to keep them in the range but it seems impossible at times. I'm praying the pump will give him better control and more flexibility with eating. He is a typical toddler and does not want to eat on a very rigid schedule.
I know Jabari will be very active. He loves going to music class and playing outside.
We continue to pray for a cure.
