Hello, my name is Trevor, and I was diagnosed with diabetes on July 15, 2002. I'm three years old. Before I went to the hospital, I asked mommy for so much water to drink. Then I was going pee-pee all the time. I had a tummy ache, and my big sister and brother Kayla and Buddy were worried about me to. Mommy knew that being that thirsty was a symptom of diabetes, because diabetes is in her and daddy's family.
Mommy took me very fast to the doctor, and they had to put me in the hospital for 4 days. Mommy and Daddy learned how to give me shots, and watch my diet. The shots are kind of scary, but Mommy says when I take my insulin I wont feel icky anymore. My Daddy is so great at giving me shots. At first he was scared, but now he is a pro (thanks Daddy). Mommy and Daddy share the duties of shots and finger pokes.
I am happy to feel good again. Thank you to my Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Missy, and Uncle Guy for helping mommy and daddy when they were in the hospital with me. I think having diabetes is OK. Every day it gets a little better. Daddy says I am his hero, and his little man. Thank you for hearing my story,
