Back to Kids' Voices Joshua

My name is Joshua and I am four years old. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on October 6, 2000.

My mommy could not understand why I was crying a lot and upset alot so she took me to the doctor and because of other symptoms I was having the doctor did a fasting blood sugar test on me. I was in the hosptial for 2 days and the nurses gave me lots of attention.

Sometimes I cry when I get shots but I am still a big boy. I play with my older brother and sister and they help watch out for my blood sugar.

I am in my eighth month of the honeymoom stage and go to the doctor every three months. The doctor says that I am doing really well and my parents are thankful that I didn't get real sick before they found out that I had diabetes.
