Hi. My name is Luke. I live in New Zealand and I have three brothers and a dog called Benji. I am 10 years old and I was diagnosed in July 2000. I am catching on quite fast but now I can't seem to get enough blood for my blood test!
I like soccer, Pokemon, and Dragon Ball. I also like drawing.
If you live in another country you may read your blood differently than me and you may also call your testing gear different names. We call shots injections and finger pokes we call finger pricks.
My dad was diagnosed when he was 19. He has had diabetes for 23 years! So our family has learnt to live with diabetes and I know it doesn't stop you from doing anything that you really want to do. My big brother Hayden has also just been diagnosed while on holiday in San Francisco at the start of a world trip. He is now in Europe! Mum and dad are a bit surprised that two out of four of their children have ended up diabetic.
I haven't seen a New Zealander's story on the list, so if you come from New Zealand (or any other country) please send me an e-mail at [email protected]
