Hi, my name is Graham. I was diagnosed with diabetes on August 7, 1997 and my sister Colleen was diagnosed on November 7, 1998. I guess we need to reconsider using 7 as our lucky number! But we were lucky that neither one of us had to go to the hospital when we were diagnosed.
I go to kindergarten, play soccer, love music and collect beanie babies. Colleen enjoys sports and playing with her dolls.
We have walked two years in the "Walk for the Cure" for diabetes and my Dad is going to Washington D.C. for the "Rally for the Cure" in March (99).
We test our own blood glucose levels 4 to 6 times a day and Colleen began giving her own shots last week! I use the "inject ease" to give my injections. We both know that because of insulin, we can enjoy our lives like anyone else. We will probably get an insulin pump in a few years when we begin doing more things with our friends.
We go to Camp Seale Harris in Alabama in the Fall and Summer and we live near Huntsville, Alabama.
