Back to Kids' Voices Chandi

Hi! My name is Chandi. My mom and dad were very sad when I got diabetes. I don't remember that day because I was only 2 years old. My sister Davita doesn't remember it either because she was not even born yet. I am upset that I have diabetes. I don't like getting my blood sugar checked and insulin shots. But the worst thing is that other kids can get sweets sometimes when I can't. It seems unfair to me. Most of the time I try to forget about diabetes and have fun.

I love to play with my friends and family. The best time is when we go skiing and I get to wear my helmet and ski on blue hills with moguls. I also love dancing and singing and to draw pictures. I study in my school in Spanish and English and I like very much. But, I can't run a lot at school because sometimes I get a low blood sugar and I have to go and see the nurse.

I would love to get mail from other children with diabetes. Please write to me at chandinyc [at]
