Is there a relationship between alcoholism and the development of diabetes?
I am assuming you are talking about adults rather than children! There is a link as excess alcohol can cause pancreatitis. If this happens repeatedly, then there can be permanent damage to the pancreas which eventually will produce less insulin and so result in diabetes. Thus, another good reason for avoiding too much alcohol.
