What are the chances of a woman with type 1 diabetes giving birth to babies who go on to develop diabetes?


Predicting diabetes is difficult since there are so many factors involved. However, there is some objective testing that can be done in children that if positive can give a risk of developing diabetes.


[Editor's comment: Typically, there is a 3-5% chance that a woman with type 1 diabetes will have a child with diabetes. SS]
