Is it true that if you see ketones in the morning, but there is no spilled sugar, and no signs of illness, it could mean a hypo in the middle of the night?
This is true but ketones without sugar in the morning can also be the result of fasting. A low blood sugar before breakfast indicates that the sugar has probably been low for some time. There is a school of thought that a high sugar before breakfast can be the result of a rebound from a hypo (which is called the Somogyi Effect) but this is now rather discounted by most.
