From Geneseo, New York, USA:
I am 19 years old, and was diagnosed with diabetes 2 1/2 years ago. Lately my
blood sugars have been extremely high. I was asked if I had a fever. I was
wondering what that would mean, if I did.
Fever, as a cause of stress, and infections in general, generally impairs
metabolic control and increases the insulin requirement in diabetic patients
over the period of time that you are ill. This decompensation is due to a
complex hormonal response of the body to stress.
