From Washington, USA:

If there are 123,000 Type 1 diabetics under 20 in the U.S., how many would you expect to be in Spokane, Washington? Our daughter is 16 and has been diagnosed with Type 1 approximately 6 months ago. How common is it for teenagers to have this in our community or in Washington and what percent of the population under 20 would that be?

The incidence of Type 1 auto-immune Diabetes in the Caucasian population of the U.S. is about 18 per 100,000 per year up to age 18. Older than that the incidence is much lower.
