From South Carolina, USA:
I am a school Library Media Specialist and am looking for information about daily requirements of carbohydrates for a diabetic. We have two students with juvenile diabetes and we need any kind of information to help prepare meals for these children.
The amount of carbohydrate in a diet should be about 50 to 60% of the calories needed for the individual. The calorie needs are based on age, sex, height, weight and activity which vary with each individual. You may want to ask the individuals with diabetes what system of meal planning they use. In general people with diabetes can eat the same foods as the general population. The amounts of foods eaten will vary with each individual meal plan.
