What is better: the high protein diet approaches put forth by books like
"The Zone," "Protein Power," the Atkins Diet -- they all promise great things
for diabetics and a lot of their arguments make sense to a lay person. the
ADA-approved diets seem to have a lot more carbs in them. This is in
reference to a newly diagnosed Type 2, age 42, (with a lot of weight to
lose) who would rather eat the ADA way but has read so much she is
In my opinion the ADA way makes more sense, especially if you are
trying to lose weight. It is difficult in reality to eat higher
protein without higher fat.
