My husband was just this week diagnosed with diabetes. He's 41 years old.

A friend of ours told us he keeps his blood sugar down by smoking marijuana. Could there be a link? Not that we would look into it, but more for his sake (we think our friend is in denial?).

I'm unaware that smoking marijuana has any favorable effects on diabetes. None of my patients who are willing to admit using it have ever told me of any benefit on controlling their blood sugar levels.

I tend to agree with you, that your friend is probably misinterpreting something, or consciously or subconsciously denying the significance of his problems.
