The Soft Touch® lancet from Roche Diagnostics is an excellent lancet. With a 28-gauge needle, flat cap, and stiff shaft, the Soft Touch lancet is a good choice for use by children with diabetes.

Our tester said the Soft Touch was as comfortable as the B-D Ultra Fine lancet, which are highly recommended. And even with a thin, 28-gauge needle, the Soft Touch produced a large enough blood drop for the One Touch Profile meter. With new meters requiring much less blood than the Profile, lancets have become thinner.

The Soft Touch lancet is very easy to use. We tested using the new Adjustable Soft Touch lancing device and found the new Soft Touch lancet a perfect match. The Soft Touch lancet will work in most standard lancing devicees. The shaft of the Soft Touch lancet is strong, so the lancet doesn't flex as much as some other lancets do. After use, the new flat cap made it easy to cover the lancet point. All in all, the new Soft Touch lancet is superb. Highly recommended.

Review updated September 20, 2002

The reviews of products are the opinion of children with DIABETES. Each product is reviewed with a single purpose: to determine if the product is suitable for use by children with type 1 diabetes, their parents, and, to a lesser degree, adults with type 1 diabetes. There are many products aimed at adults with type 2 diabetes that are not appropriate or suitable for children or adults with type 1 diabetes.
