Unistik 2 The Unistik® 2 is a self-contained, single-use lancing device and lancet. Though much more expensive than traditional lancets (25 cents each compared with less than 4 cents), this unusual product has a place in unusual circumstances, such as:

Since the lancet and lancing device are a single piece, the Unistik® 2 is very easy for young kids to use. There is no inserting a lancet into a lancing device, and no removing the lancet after use for disposal. This makes the Unistik® 2 quite useful for teaching young kids how to do their own blood tests.

The Unistik® 2 comes in two depths: normal, with a 2.4mm depth, and extra, with a 3.0mm depth. Since the spring tension in the Unistik® 2 is not as powerful as a separate lancing device, the extra is recommended to ensure that you get enough blood for a test.

The inherent safety of lancing devices like the Unistik® 2 is greater than standard lancets. There is no risk of accidentally sticking yourself while recapping the lancet after use. The lancet tip is held well inside the plastic casing. For young kids testing on their own, or kids with reduced vision or motor skills, this product could be a big help.

The Unistik® 2 is essentially identical to the Gentle-let 1.

The reviews of products are the opinion of children with DIABETES. Each product is reviewed with a single purpose: to determine if the product is suitable for use by children with type 1 diabetes, their parents, and, to a lesser degree, adults with type 1 diabetes. There are many products aimed at adults with type 2 diabetes that are not appropriate or suitable for children or adults with type 1 diabetes.
