The BD GenieTM lancet is a self-contained, single-use safety lancet that's perfect for use on the road, at childcare, at school, or at work where proper sharps disposal may not be possible. While it does not provide any depth adjustments, the Genie offers excellent safety and ease of disposal. Since the Genie lancets are significantly more expensive than traditional lancets, you'll want to save them for those situations when disposal issues are most critical.

Using the BD Genie is very simple. First you twist the white lancet cover off. This does not expose the 28 gauge lancet point, because it's hidden inside the purple case. You then press the tip against your skin and push down on the white trigger at the back. The lancet deploys and retracts instantly and cannot be reused. The tip of the lancet remains safely inside the Genie's plastic housing.

The BD Genie is suitable for use by kids and adults.

Original review March 3, 2002

The reviews of products are the opinion of children with DIABETES. Each product is reviewed with a single purpose: to determine if the product is suitable for use by children with type 1 diabetes, their parents, and, to a lesser degree, adults with type 1 diabetes. There are many products aimed at adults with type 2 diabetes that are not appropriate or suitable for children or adults with type 1 diabetes.
