Join your CWD family and friends for a long weekend in truly a paradise setting. The Marco Island Marriott Resort has something for everyone. Whether you enjoy relaxing on the beach with a good book and good friends, or would prefer something more invigorating like sailing or a swim in the surf, or an afternoon full of learning and wonder as you tour the Everglades adjacent to the resort, the choices really are endless.
Joe Eldridge is the co-founder and president of Team Type 1, a cycling team of 8 riders with Type 1 diabetes that won the Race Across America. Another objective is to show people with diabetes that their condition won't hold them back. Eldridge was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age 10 in December of 1992. But it didn't stop him from competing as a striker on elite junior soccer teams that traveled the country. When he wasn't kicking the ball on a soccer field, he was placekicking on the football field for his high school team. Joe's participation at the conference is supported by Dex4.
Conference programming for parents (i.e., educational sessions) will be offered on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30, right after breakfast. There will be a break for snacks - and to check on the kids - roughly halfway through the morning. Note that the children ages 6-17 will have activities during the morning on Friday and Saturday as well. They will work in specific age groups: Elementary (ages 6-9), Tween (ages 10-12), Teen (ages 13-17), and childcare for potty-trained kids ages 5 and under. In addition, there will be games and other activities for CWD families on the beach throughout the day.
Try an Insulin Pump or CGM!
Come to the conference and try a pump! Pump companies offer would-be pumpers a chance to try their products using saline. A prescription from your physician is required and must include the wording "insulin pump trial with saline." If you plan to try more than one pump, be sure to bring a prescription for each.
This opportunity is by appointment only. Appointments will fill up quickly. For more information, contact:
