Registering for the Conference

Every conference participant needs to register for the conference. Pricing information is online on our Registration Page. Note that pricing information is on a per person basis. Registering for the conference is a separate process from making hotel reservations - please make sure that you do both. Registering for the hotel only registers you for a hotel room and registering for the conference only registers you for the conference itself. Registration includes:

  1. All sessions for adults and children ages 6-18, childcare for children ages 5 and under;
  2. Friday evening reception;
  3. Saturday breakfast, lunch, and morning/afternoon beverage and snack breaks;
  4. Sunday breakfast, lunch, and morning/afternoon beverage and snack breaks;
  5. One t-shirt per person registered.

Experts Who Can Help

CWD has invited some of the top experts in the diabetes industry to share their ideas with you. In addition to the scheduled presentations, the conference faculty will be available during meals and breaks for more personalized discussion. Our faculty are very approachable - don't be shy about asking questions! This is a time to discuss anything on your mind relating to diabetes management. It's a great opportunity to network, share ideas, and interact with CWD's most wonderful and caring professionals!

In addition, for elementary age kids, tweens, and teens, there will be special sessions just for you on Saturday and Sunday. One area in the conference center is for kids ages 6-8, one area is designated for kids ages 9-12, and a third area is designated for teens. These sessions are fun and activity based - they will not focus on 'just diabetes,' so they are fine for sisters, brothers, and friends to attend! Please note that a child must be in their specific age-group; no exceptions.

We offer childcare on Saturday and Sunday for children ages 0-5. A separate child care registration is required -- see the link in the navigation below.

Please note that all conference participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or adult guardian registered for the conference and with them in the building during the entire conference (i.e., teens and children may not be dropped off to participate while parents go elsewhere). This is for health and liability reasons, and there will be no exceptions.

The Program

The program is designed to offer a variety of educational sessions all day Saturday and Sunday. Following sessions, late afternoon and into the evening, there will be free time. During some sessions, there will be a choice of speakers. The program will end late afternoon on Sunday.

The Conference Venue

The Disneyland Hotel is now accepting reservations for Friends for Life Anaheim 2016. Rooms are $202/night + tax. You may reserve a room by using Disney's online reservation system. The cut-off date for reservations in the room block is August 24, 2016, or whenever the room block is filled. After that, if the hotel has rooms available, they will be offered at rack rate.

Note that there is a conference registration fee per family and that reserving a room does not register you for the conference. Rates vary according to the date of registration. Please refer to the Registration Page for details.

Cancellation policy:
Cancellations prior to September 1, 2016 will be refunded minus a $25 per person processing fee. Beginning September 1, 2016, no refunds are available.

Special Guest
Mike Avery

Mike Avery has lived an exciting a Hollywood life since his diagnosis with diabetes in 1993. At the age of three, dressed as a trouble-making troll, Mike became the youngest stunt performer in the industry. By age 12, he was a precision driver able to intentionally spin and crash his car. Since then, Mike has made a career of crashing cars, falling off of buildings, and getting set on fire. He has jumped from bridges, helicopters, and airplanes pretending to be some of Hollywood’s biggest names. He has over 100 film, television, and commercial credits and is known for his work on Titanic (1997), The Prestige (2006), Ocean’s 13 (2007), The O.C., Hannah Montana, Grimm, and Horrible Bosses (2011) among others. A lifelong athlete, Mike more recently became interested in sprint distance triathlons. In 2015, he completed his first full Ironman as part of Riding on Insulin’s Endurance Team, which included 40 other athletes with diabetes. His advocacy efforts leading up to the Ironman helped Mike realize his true passion – educating and encouraging fellow people with diabetes. Mike finds that staying active, using an insulin pump, and a strong support system have helped him lead a healthy and exciting life. His athletic commitments in 2016 include three full Ironman races, several half-marathons, and sprint races around his hometown of Los Angeles. Mike’s participation is part of Tandem Diabetes Care’s Live Your Life in Full Color speaker series.
