Back Home Richard Rubin
Richard Rubin

Richard Rubin, PhD, CDE, a pillar in the diabetes community and long-time friend, passed away this week.

Dr. Rubin's contributions to the field of diabetes care will be spoken of for years to come. We will remember his passion, his many awards, his moving presentations, and his wonderful sense of humor. But more important are the uncounted lives which are better for having known him or learned from him. Whether from his presentations or from Sweet Kids, co-authored with Betty Brackenridge (another legend in diabetes education), families like mine learned the most important truth about living with diabetes life comes first, diabetes comes second. That simple wisdom will continue to light the way for families living with diabetes until, having found a cure, we can finally turn off the lights and return to what matters most family, friends, and the simple joys of everyday life.

He will be sorely missed.
